How do the children learn?
We are a play-based school and believe in exposing the children to as many experiences as possible. In our two youngest classrooms our emphasis is on the social and emotional development of the child. In our Pre-kindergarten class the emphasis includes cognitive development so that your child will be ready for kindergarten.
What are your class sizes? And furthermore, what is the teacher/student ratio in each classroom?
In our Sunshine Room (our youngest room with the 2.9-3.5 year olds) we have two teachers and one assistant with a classroom size no larger than 15 students.
In our Rainbow Room (our middle age children with the 3.5-4.5 year olds) we have two teachers and one assistant with a classroom size no larger than 20 students.
In the Starlite Room (our oldest and pre-kindergarten class with the 4.5-5.5 year olds) we have two teachers and one assistant with a classroom size no larger than 27 students in a class.
What kindergartens/elementary schools do your students usually go to?
The majority of the students attend the Parochial Schools in the neighborhood and neighboring areas. Also, some students do go on to the independent schools (BADA) while some students go on to public schools as well.
Are you affiliated to the Lutheran church?
Please know that we are not in affiliation with the Lutheran Church located above our school. We are an independent non-profit private preschool that only rents space from the Church above us.
Are there field trips?
We arrange field trips for only the pre-kindergarten class. We make the dates available for the field trips at the orientation so that parents have more than enough time to make arrangements if they would like to attend as well.
Is there exposure to music?
Yes, every Monday our music teacher comes and visits with the children in all our classrooms. Also, we have bi-monthly visits from our Yoga Instructor for a children’s yoga class. We have monthly visits from the conservatory of music that provides us with students that perform individually or in a group setting.
